Sunday AM Service for 1/17/2021: The God Who Shatters Expectations
In today's service we continue to dig through the book of Acts to chapters 10 and 11 examining the story of Peter when he was called to visit the home of Cornelius the Centurion. In this scripture we find that God is shattering everyone expectations when they are moved in new directions and shown events they've never thought possible.
Sunday AM Service: 1/10/2021: “Being At The Right Place At The Right Time”
We’ve seen where things just happen to people when they are the right place at the right time. In today’s message Bill Morris digs into Acts 8:26-40, the story of the Ethiopian eunuch who was met by Philip who shared the good news of Jesus. Nothing about this encounter looked glamorous, but God was working behind the scenes to orchestrate something bigger than we could dream.
Today we have a friend of Lighthouse come back to worship with us and bring us God's word, Rev. Everett Tomberlin. He's been deeply invested into the Seafarers Ministry at the ports of Savannah for all the international seamen that come from around the world providing help for those who need it. In his ministry, no matter the language, the message is the same: God sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so that we may be forgiven and live eternally with Him. Today, he brings this same message to us.

To overpower someone by brut force is a feat easily accomplished by those who are more powerful than their opponent. This means they have the POWER to do the task. Whereas those appointed by leadership have the AUTHORITY to rule or govern. Jesus has both the power and authority as the Good Shepherd to not only fight off the enemy but to lavish us with blessings we clearly do not deserve. Pastor Aaron Webb brings the scriptures to life by illustrating how Jesus’ power and authority are no match for those who dare oppose.
Knowing what is right vs. doing what is right is a constant battle in our lives. We love the feeling of doing what’s right, but aren’t willing to pay the price to make it come to fruition. In James 1:19-27, Pastor Aaron Webb points out this struggle was acknowledged and addressed even to the early church. To avoid being a hypocrite, we need to be consciously away of what is truly right and act upon it.
